OPERATION - Releasing the cargo can be quickly released or dumped aside by hitting an arm with a hammer. The release arm allows the chain wound around a rod to unravel allowing the cargo to slide out the side of each pocket's door. The doors are hinged on the top, so the weight of the cargo pushes them out to the side, and then they return to their vertical position after dumping. To prepare them to hold more cargo you wind in the chain by inserting a bar into slots around the chain's rod which has a locking ratchet. Winding in the chain pulls on the door which is kept from releasing by the locking ratchet.
Barge tilts at lower water levels from sitting on the riverbank. Currently set up for carrying cargo that is dumped aside. Each open pocket is 11.8 cu yards, spud tube pockets 11.2 cu yards. Total scow capacity 93.2 cu yards. Located New York State. Price: $110,000
